How to authorise an agent for PAYE

Have you activated PAYE for Employers? 

After submitting your application for PAYE, alongside your PAYE & Accounts Office reference numbers, you’ll also receive an activation code from HMRC through the post. To input this code, navigate to this link. In the portal, select 'Activate your PAYE for employers'.


Then, input your Activation Code in the relevant box and press Get Access. You’ll need to do this before you can add an agent.

Authorising an agent for PAYE

Once your PAYE for Employers has been activated, you can add an agent to manage your taxes. 

Click this link and click onto ‘Manage account’


Scroll down to ‘Accountants and tax agent access’, and click ‘Add, view or change tax agents’ 


Click ‘Add an agent’ next to PAYE for Employers


Then enter the agent’s ID, which should look something like this: DGRCTHPFZIYK-QEWJS2TTED
