Declaration of Compliance with The Pensions Regulator
Once you have created your auto-enrolment pension scheme and enrolled your staff, you must inform The Pensions Regulator (TPR) that you have met your legal employer duties. This is done by submitting a Declaration of Compliance.
- Your duties start date is the exact day your first member of staff starts working for you, marking when legal automatic enrolment duties begin
You must submit this declaration within 5 months of your duties' start date. Failure to complete the declaration on time may result in penalties or fines.
Step 1: Go to The Pensions Regulator’s Portal.

- The letter code is normally sent by post after you register as an employer with HMRC.
